Taking care of your brain and body (soma) is synonymous with good health.

June is Brain Health and Alzheimer’s month. What helps your brain and body is community and social activity.

Tidbits is my community post which I have been building for the past nine years when I first began writing blog posts. . I am coming back to this model which I started with my first program Embrace Your Third Act. Over the years,  I have committed to supporting you with healthy aging content for living a vibrant life.

I’ve taken you on some personal journeys from food and nutrition, Parkinson’s, brain health and the last few years which has led me to Transforming Stress to Strength with mindfulness, somatic movement, qigong, and mindful eating, where I am today.

Each week we practice together Mindful Tuesdays at 6:00pm with Qigong movement and meditation.  On Thursdays at 10:00 am, we practice Somatic Movement to release stress from the body from habituated patterns of posture and restricted movement.

For the summer, I am offering FREE in-person Qigong at Riverdale Park West (Carlton and Sumach Streets). I am changing the time on Thursdays to 7:30 pm. I am partnering with Brun, a young man from Belgium. Come and join us, its lots of fun!

In the fall, there will be new programing with a fall Cleanse, special in-person somatic movement sessions with guests, and another wellness retreat day with Nicole Levy, art therapist on November 15th.

If you are interested in a personal consultation for your nutritional health or coping with a chronic illness, please contact me at [email protected]

HERE ARE THE DETAILS to Practice Together:

Mindful Tuesdays at 6:00 pm

Join us in gentle movement and meditation

For the first 20 minutes we practiceqigong movement sitting and standing. Then follow with a meditation for 25 minutes.

Gentle movement prepares you for sitting in stillness in mediation to relax into the experience. Becoming aware of your breath while moving, slows down the heart rate, calms the mind and regulates the nervous system. Gentle movement releases the joints and tension in the body. It also improves your breathing, strength, balance , agility and coordination.

We meet virtually on zoom so you can join us from wherever you are!

the fisrt session is free

Register for Tuesday’s meditation and movement session  at 6:00 pm

See you there!

Somatic Movement Thursdays at 10:00 am

On Thursdays, we practice Somatic movement to release stress from the body and improve posture, alignment and functionality (from injury, stress or overuse).

This week’s lesson is Unwinding the Patterns of Anxiety  mapping the  frontal ribs and exploring their interplay with the shoulders, neck, head, and tongue for relieving stress in the diaphragm, chest and lower back.

Qigong in the Park

Join in-person for a five-week Qigong class at Riverdale Park West in Cabbagetown.

Thursdays from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm from May 30th to June 27th, 2024. (Ignore Calendly says May 23rd).

Qigong is an ancient health practice that originated in China some 3000+ years ago. It includes slow, graceful, movements synchronized with the breath to relax the mind into a calm state. It also helps to improve mental focus, and prevents as well as treats ill health and disease.

No previous experience required. The movements are easy to learn and very enjoyable. Qigong will bring a smile to your face.
